Gregory S. Carter

Greg did his undergraduate work at Indiana University and received a Bachelors in Arts and Sciences with a Major in Government. He attended the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington and graduated in 1972. Immediately upon graduation he served as the Chief Deputy Prosecutor of Monroe County, Indiana, and subsequently was named Prosecuting Attorney. He moved to Terre Haute in 1979 and joined a law firm specializing in the defense of civil claims. He joined the Sacopulos Law firm in 1991 and continued to represent defendants in civil cases with a concentration in medical malpractice. In 1996 he was asked to lead the investigation into the suspicious deaths at the Vermillion County Hospital and after approximately three years charged Orville Lynn Majors for several of the deaths. He successfully prosecuted Majors. After the Majors trial he became the full time Chief Deputy Prosecutor of Vermillion County and also served as Prosecutor of Vermillion County. He then rejoined the Sacopulos Firm in the capacity of as counsel and specializes in medical malpractice, healthcare related issues and administrative law. He continues to serve the Vermillion County Prosecutor’s Office.

He has been active in the community and has served in a number of committees and ministries at the St. Joseph University Parish including service as president of the parish council. He has been a board member of the Red Cross and Lifeline. He also has served as president of the Vigo County Bar Association. He is a member of the Vigo County Bar Association and the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. He is married to Marica who is a retired registered nurse.
